Number-crunching apps like Google Analytics are not at all the
only tool to track your site and the online discussion that evolves
around it.
Statistics show the big numbers rst—say, ImportantMajorWebsite.example.com sent 10,000
visitors to your blog post rant—but they often hide how that big site found your page in the rst
place. This original reason that ended in a trafc peak on your site is the “tipping point.” Knowing the
tipping point is as important as knowing ImportantMajorWebsite.example.com.
Here are a couple of approaches that will help you understand your site’s place in the greater
scheme of things, and shed light on the tipping points. You can then read up on what people
elsewhere say about your site or service, and react to it accordingly (like improving your site based
on the feedback, or, if necessary, clarifying your point of view):

