If you nd yourself sharing many documents with the same group
of people, adding all their names each time can be tiresome.
The Share tab of Google Docs has a nice feature that’s easy to overlook: custom invitation groups.
If you need to invite the same people over and over, this one is for you. The solution presented here
was originally laid out by Ionut Alexandru Chitu, a Google expert and blogger (http://googlesystem.
blogspot.com) from Romania, who wanted an alternative to an otherwise tedious process.
To give this a try, create a new document by going to http://docs.google.com and choosing New
Document (or Spreadsheet or Presentation) from the menu. Enter some text and save your
document. Now switch to Share“Share with others”. Instead of typing the names of the people
you want to invite, click the “Choose from contacts” link. Select All Contacts from the dropdown
menu (it defaults to Most Contacted) in the new window that appears, and select all the people you
want to share the document with, as shown in Figure 1-19.
