Battle information overow by hiding ads.
If you maintain or visit a Google group (see the introduction to this chapter), there may be ads
showing on the right side of some discussion threads. Although you can’t disable them globally for
all users—even if you are the owner of the group—you can disable them for yourself if you use the
Firefox browser.
Before using tools that modify the appearance of a web site you are using, it is your responsibility to review
the most recent terms of service to ensure that your activities do not conict with those terms—for example,
some sites require that you accept ads as part of their terms of use; other display elements may be specied
as well.

Setting up the Yahoo! Pipe
First, log in to Yahoo! Pipes at http://pipes.yahoo.com. Next, create a new pipe like this:
Under Sources, drag “Fetch Feed” to the work area and specify the URL of the group’s XML feed.
Under Operators, drag a Filter to the work area, specify “Permit items that match all of the
following,” and set item.title to the subject of the thread.
Connect the source to the lter, and the lter to the output, as shown in Figure 10-29. Save the
new Pipe, click Back to My Pipes, and click on your new pipe to nd its RSS feed.
Now, subscribe to the pipe’s RSS feed in your feed reader ...
