GOOGLE APPS HACKS
06
If you like the simplicity of the current Google home page, you don’t need to switch. But if you’re
looking for ways to add more spice to Google, consider the move—and you can also switch between
the two avors, depending on what you need to do. You will then be able to see weather gadgets,
interactive maps, miniature versions of special search engines, your Gmail inbox, and much more,
right on Google.com. You can set your own background image for Google as well.
To use iGoogle fully, you need a Google account (see Chapter 1). This way you will be able to add
your own tabs and gadgets. An iGoogle tab is just a collection of multiple gadgets, and you can add
several different tabs. A gadget, on the other hand, is . . . anything really. Think of it as a web page or
web application but in miniature form.
