You’re already showing up in web search results, but how do you
get yourself into Google Maps search results?
If you have a business—a restaurant, shop, or the like—and you’d like it to appear on Google Maps,
you can add it yourself. You rst need to go to the Google Local Business Center at http://google.
com/local/add/lookup. As pictured in Figure 11-28, you are required to provide information like your
address, phone number, and more. In a later step, you can select the category and subcategory of
your business, opening hours, accepted forms of payment, and also upload photos.
Once you’ve done this, your listing needs to be veried by Google. You can choose to receive your
code via phone (Google’s system will call you and ask for a PIN that was handed out to you), via an
SMS, or via a snail mail to the address you provided.
