Don’t leave it to Google to optimize the le size of your presentation.
Whether you’re exporting a presentation to send to someone, or sharing a Google Docs
presentation URL online, it makes sense to optimize the size of the le, so that you can reduce the
amount of time it takes to download or view your presentation. The most frequent cause of bloated
presentation le sizes are large images. They may also slow you down when you’re editing your
presentation—the same is true for Google documents, too.
If you are a user of Adobe Photoshop or the free GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) graphics editor, you can use
the Save for Web feature to save les in a nice compact format that also looks good online. Save for Web
perform all of the steps described in this hack. In Photoshop, choose File
→Save for Web. In GIMP, you’ll need
to download and install the Save for Web plugin from http://registry.gimp.org/node/33 before you can use
GIMP’s File
→Save for Web option.
A photograph that you’ve taken or an image you've downloaded from the Web may be
too large to be efciently embedded in a web page. Although you can resize the image within the
