Now this would not be Google if this tool weren’t web-based. Furthermore, Calendar is integrated
into some other Google tools; for instance, you can quickly add an event from within Gmail. Also,
Gmail automatically turns certain phrases into Calendar events.
To get started with Google Calendar, point your browser to http://calendar.google.com. If you
already have a Google Account (see Chapter 1), you can enter your credentials now to sign in. After
providing your username and your time zone, you will see your calendar in its default view, as shown
in Figure 7-1. Click anywhere in the calendar to add an event quickly; a bubble pops up to let you
enter what your event is about. You can provide just a title, or make full use of the Quick Add syntax
. You can then click either Create Event or “edit event details.” The dialog for editing the
details allows you to choose many options, as shown in Figure 7-2.
You can also add events by clicking the Create Event or Quick Add links shown just below the Google
Calendar logo. You can search for public calendars by entering keywords, like the name of your
city.
