To install this extension, point Firefox to http://torrez.us/code/quickgooglecal/quickgooglecal.xpi
and follow the installation prompts. After restarting your browser, you will nd a new menu entry in
your browser’s Tools menu reading “Google Calendar Quick Add.” You can now click this menu entry
from anywhere on the web, or—even better—press the shortcut Control-Q to open a quick-add
box, as shown in Figure 7-25. Enter the event in a Google Calendar–friendly syntax as listed earlier
in this hack, conrm it by hitting the Return key, and the event will be added for you. If there are
any problems saving your event, go to http://calendar.google.com, make sure you are logged in to
Google Calendar, and try again.

After spotting a date on any web page,
you can quickly add it to Calendar

Your planned picnic: huge success or soggy, rained-out disaster?
To add weather forecasts to Google Calendar, click the Settings link and scroll down to the entry
that reads “Show weather based on my location.” Pick either Celsius or Fahrenheit. If you haven’t
done so already, you should enter your location in the Location input box (like “Paris, France”,
without the quotes, or a U.S. zip code). Click the Save button, and you’ll be returned to the Calendar
home page. In the left pane that lists calendars, check the box next to the new Weather entry ...
