114 GOOGLE APPS HACKS
HaCK 45:
There’s a long-rumored Google product called Gdrive, a virtual
storage system that lets you access your les from anywhere.
Google employees already use Gdrive internally. But there’s a
second, unofcial product out there for the rest of us that already
brings Gdrive functionality . . . by kidnapping Gmail.
If you’re in need of more storage space than your hard disk offers, you can buy a new one—or
outsource some of the space to an online drive. One way to do so is by installing Gmail Drive, a third-
party product that handles your les by sending them to Gmail behind the scenes.
Gmail Drive may cease working anytime that Google decides to block it or change the workings of their Gmail
program. Also note that Gmail Drive requires you to enter your Google Account credentials; always do this
only if you sufciently trust the author of any program, and understand enough about the program’s security
model to trust it to keep your credentials secure.
Please note there’s a serious caveat to using this Gmail Drive program—a caveat big enough that you may
decide you may not want to try this hack at all, or use it only on a Google account that doesn’t contain highly
important data! The caveat here is the fact that Google may lock the accounts of people
who use le storage software on top of it. For more information on this please ...
