This hack can be applied to either public or private Google Calendar feeds. However, you then trust
both Yahoo! and Google not to share the URL of that private feed, which is private only because it’s
hard to guess.

As well as viewing your own calendar events on a Google Map, or in Google Earth, you can also view
events from other public calendars listed in Google Calendar. You can nd public calendars by using
the Search Public Calendars button.


I nd it’s best to use the “Get as RSS” link, which provides a GeoRSS feed, for Google Maps, and the
“Get as KML” link to use as a live Network Link in Google Earth .
When you add the feed to Google Maps or Google Earth, each geocoded item in the calendar feed is
listed, along with a corresponding marker on the map, as shown in Figure 11-42.

The geocal Yahoo! Pipes interface (http://pipes.yahoo.
com/ouseful/geocal). Enter the URL of an RSS/Atom
feed such as a Google Calendar XML feed and the pipe
will geocode the rst location it nds within the title and
description elements of each feed item.
