309 - TURN GOOGLE EARTH INTO A FLIGHT SIMULATOR

Once you have found a public calendar you want to display on a map, just run through the steps
listed here:
Add the public calendar to your calendar.
Grab the XML URL from the Calendar Settings page.
Paste it into the geocal pipe (http://pipes.yahoo.com/ouseful/geocal) and run the pipe.
Grab the “Get As KML” URL from the Yahoo! Pipe “More Options” menu.
Use it as a Network Link in Google Earth.
View the dates in 3D geographical glory!
If you nd that the location extractor is not working as expected, modify the location of the event.
Unfortunately, you can’t directly change any of the details in someone else’s calendar, unless you
manage to come up with another hack to deal with that eventuality!
You can also use Google Spreadsheets as source le to generate rich-media placemarks for Google Earth or
Google Maps. Google explains the process in a text and video tutorial available at http://earth.google.com/
outreach/tutorial_mapper.html.
Want to plot Microsoft Outlook events on the map, too? Try the Windows application Google Calendar Sync,
outlined at http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=89955.
