Some casual-dining chains, such as 1,557-unit Chili’s Grill &
Bar, see the use of technology as a means to become “faster than
fast casual.” The technology Chili’s envisioned included customer
placing the orders online and knowledge of when the guest is on
the lot in order bring food out to the car as soon as the guest
arrives. About 10 percent of its current sales are takeout, and
the brand foresees this to increase in addition to delivery orders.
Chili’s delivery requires a minimum order of $125 and is tar-
