Oracle Net Manager

Oracle Net Manager is a GUI management tool that you can use to create, discover, and test configurations for the listener, connection, and Oracle Names. You can use Oracle Net Manager as a standalone utility or as a part of Oracle Enterprise Manager. Oracle Net Manager also includes some wizards that walk you through different configuration tasks, including:

Net Service Name wizard

Used for creating a TNSNAMES.ORA file

Directory Server Migration wizard

Used for migrating information from a TNSNAMES.ORA file to a directory-based system

Names wizard

Used for creating and configuring an Oracle Names server

In Oracle8i, the tasks of Oracle Net Manager were accomplished with the Net8 Configuration Assistant. In Oracle8, these tasks were accomplished with the Oracle Net8 Assistant and the Net8 Easy Configuration Tool.
