Name

PRE_PAGE_SGA

Synopsis

Value: TRUE | FALSE

Default: FALSE

If TRUE, Oracle touches all of the SGA pages during instance startup, causing them to be brought into memory. As a result, setting this parameter increases instance startup time and user login time, but it can reduce the number of page faults that occur shortly thereafter. The reduction in page faults allows the instance to reach its maximum performance capability more quickly. This parameter is most useful on systems that have sufficient memory to hold all the SGA pages without degrading performance in other areas. You should ensure that the SGA be sized properly in relation to existing physical memory in order to avoid swapping.
