Two new datetime interval datatypes, INTERVAL YEAR TO MONTH and INTERVAL DAY TO SECOND, were introduced in Oracle9i. They represent a chronological interval, expressed either as years and months or as days, hours, minutes, seconds, and fractional seconds. Literals of these datatypes have the form INTERVAL YEAR (year_precision) TO MONTH or INTERVAL DAY (day_precision) to SECOND (fractional_seond_precision). See Appendix A for details and examples.
