Functions that take a collection or REF CURSOR (set of rows) as input and return a collection of records (set of rows) as output. Table functions were introduced in Oracle8i. Starting with Oracle9i, you can use the PIPE ROW statement to identify the input and output streams. Streamlining in this way allow you to pipeline table funtions together, eliminating the need to stage tables between transformations. Table funtions typically appear in the FROM clause of a query.
