Getting ready

In this section, we will continue to use our Ubuntu VM (mostly because it's the one I still have open, after having written the last section).

There's no reason why we couldn't use our Debian or CentOS box, instead; a host of other distributions are also supported, including (but not limited to) the following:

  • Arch
  • Fedora
  • Gentoo
  • Solus
  • Alpine
  • openSUSE

To set up our VM for Flatpak, we have to install it, although it is available in the default repositories (potentially after an upgrade, depending on when you're reading this; if you're reading this prior to 2017, I'm impressed by your temporal-displacement abilities, but you should know that the future is dark and full of lemons):

$ sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y$ sudo ...
