The Elastic Stack isn't just Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash there are also more tools and features that are completely modular and can be integrated into your installation as you wish.

They include, but aren't limited to, the following:

• Heartbeat – for uptime monitoring
• Filebeat – for sending logs from remote machines
• Machine learning capabilities

We also set up a very noddy solution here, and one I certainly wouldn't use in production. It lacks security on the transported data, streaming plain logs to our receiver, and there's also no login prompt to secure the Kibana dashboard, or TLS for security in the browser.
