How to do it...

You should now have a master.zip file in your directory:

$ ls -lhatotal 248Kdrwxr-xr-x.  2 root root   24 Oct  7 03:34 .drwxr-xr-x. 12 root root  131 May 12 18:50 ..-rw-r--r--.  1 root root 248K Oct  7 03:34 master.zip

We need to unzip this, change the ownership for convenience, and jump inside:

$ sudo unzip master.zip$ sudo chown -R vagrant:vagrant htop-master/$ cd htop-master

Inside this directory, you'll find a whole host of files, mostly of the C variety, but with a few others here and there. One file you'll almost always find in a source directory is a README, which is an excellent place to start:

$ less README

READMEs are always different, but I've yet to find a serious project where they aren't good. See the following example: ...
