vmstat

On systems that are very contended, or where you might want to output system information for later correlation and debugging, vmstat is ideal. Giving you more of a global overview of your system, it can be handy to store periodic values to a file, which you can then check later:

  1. When run on its own, it can also be set to periodically print to screen:
