I suggested the EPEL version of MongoDB is old. At the time of writing this is true, so it's a good idea to try the most recent version from the upstream repositories, if you'd like to use MongoDB for your own systems.
Again, I would hammer the point home that enabling some sort of security on your system is also a must if you plan on using it in production.
Also, if you're still trying to think of a situation where NoSQL databases could be more useful than traditional PostgreSQL or MySQL setups, think of something such as logging.
