Getting ready

In this section, we're going to use all our VMs, and it might be an idea to vagrant destroy and vagrant up them all first.

Please note that, for this section, we're going to be installing the version 6 release of certain Elastic Stack components. The configuration has changed historically, and may do again by the time you read this book; if anything doesn't work as you expect, refer to the Elastic documentation for your version to fill in the gaps.

For this section, we're going to run through the initial setup on centos1, then pop onto the other VMs and configure their logging destination.

Mostly, I don't suggest this, but it might be a good idea to reset your VMs to a fresh starting point for this bit:

$ vagrant destroy -f ...
