chmod

We're being a bit unfair on the old Packt user here, so let's give everyone the ability to write to the file, rather than just vagrant:

$ sudo chmod 646 permissionfile$ ls -l permissionfile-rw-r--rw-. 1 vagrant root 26 Oct 28 12:48 permissionfile

Now, we should be able to write to the file as any user, instead of just vagrant:

$ su - packt -c "echo POSSIBLE > /home/permissionfile"Password: $ cat permissionfile POSSIBLE
