Remote logging with journald

The systemd-journal-remote command allows you to receive journal messages over a network. Sadly, it's a fairly recent addition to the systemd suite, and isn't yet available on CentOS systems.

On your first Debian system (debian1), set up your remote upload location:

$ sudo sed -i 's/# URL=/URL=http:\/\/192.168.33.13/g' /etc/systemd/journal-upload.conf

On your second box (debian2), start by editing the listening service, using systemctl edit:

$ sudo systemctl edit systemd-journal-remote

When presented with the empty editor, add the following three lines:

[Service]ExecStart=ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-journal-remote --listen-http=-3 --output=/var/log/journal/remote

It should look something like the following: ...
