If you've been following along, you might be asking what systemd does with crypttab, if it translates fstab into systemd units.

The answer is that it does something very similar, in fact, using a similarly named program at boot-time: systemd-cryptsetup-generator.

 We can actually see what happened to our encrypted device at boot by catting the automatically generated file:
