Getting ready

Here, we're going to grab the source code of htop, a popular and interactive process monitor.

This isn't a sales pitch, but I do happen to like htop, and I make a point of installing it on my personal systems, as well as systems I manage, when I get the chance.

You will need access to the GitHub page of the source code, at https://github.com/hishamhm/htop.

You will also be using your CentOS VM.

Log in to your CentOS VM and install unzip and wget, as follows:

$ vagrant ssh centos7$ sudo yum install unzip wget -y

Navigate to /usr/local/src, the place where we will put source code for locally installed software, by convention:

$ cd /usr/local/src

Download the most recent version of the htop repository (here, I use https):

$ sudo ...
