How it works...

Package management works because diligent people make it work. Dependency problems are still an issue, even though they're mostly transparent to the user these days. It becomes more of an issue with the more packages that you support, meaning that Debian, with its thousands of packages, has a tough job of making sure each will always work, or that conflict is detected before it causes issues.

Let's give a shout out to the hardworking package maintainers in each distribution, and thank them for their tireless efforts in ensuring that our systems don't try to install packages and libraries that are incompatible with each other.

If you ever have to make a package of your own, best of luck to you!
