All we're doing here is pulling in a functional image from the global Docker Registry; this is the default, the omega, the biggest, the original, and the best (according to some people.)
Docker Hub is a repository of smaller repositories, with everyone able to put their own spin on containers they've built (or forked) and thus adding to the software soup of the world.
This obviously has disadvantages, as I alluded to in the previous sardonic line. This means that because it's so easy to punt your image onto Docker Hub, it can become increasingly frustrating to find that one image you want.
