Interestingly, this is one significant place in which the Ubuntu and Debian worlds differ. In Ubuntu-land, there's the concept of Personal Package Archives (PPAs), which can be used to install third-party software.
You can install regular repositories, too, but PPAs are arguably a little more targeted. Do bear in mind that there's very little stopping anyone from creating a PPA, so make sure to follow due diligence before adding just anything.
PPAs can be searched out on the Canonical site, at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+ppas.
We'll add the LibreOffice Fresh PPA, as an example:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
You may be prompted to accept the additional repository, simply by pressing Enter.
