Ping

If you think you've got a network problem, the ping command is one of the oldest tools available to you, and one of your best friends:

  1. Start by making sure your networking is up, pinging your loopback address and your own node IP. We will check whether the localhost is working:
$ ping 127.0.0.1PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1) 56(84) bytes of data.64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.044 ms64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.081 ms64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.086 ms--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---3 packets transmitted, 3 received, 0% packet loss, time 1999msrtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.044/0.070/0.086/0.019 ms
  1. Then, check your Eth1 address:
$ ping 192.168.33.10PING 192.168.33.10 (192.168.33.10) ...
