At the top of this section, we ran hostname inside our container, but that doesn't give you a clue as to what the container is doing. One thing that I find particularly handy is the ability to check the processes running in my container, without having to dig out process IDs for my ps command first.
Here, I'm using the following command:
$ sudo lxc exec example-container top
This gives me the following output:

Note that it's significantly quieter than the host machine, and very few daemons are actually running in the container.
