Organic solar cell or polymer/plastic solar cell is a type of photovoltaic that uses organic electronics, a branch of electronics that deals with conductive organic polymers or small organic molecules, for light absorption and charge transport to produce electricity from sunlight by the photovoltaic effect.
The polymer solar cell is a layered structure consisting of, at a minimum, a transparent front electrode, an active layer – which is the actual semiconducting polymer material – and a back electrode printed onto a plastic substrate.
