When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
60 Fillers
Fillers are materials that are added to a polymer formulation to lower the compound cost and/or to improve properties.
Mixing polymers with fillers was established in the early 1930s when polymers such as phenolic, urea, and aniline-formaldehyde resins were developed. In 1942 the first fiberglass laminates made from PPG CR-38 and CR-39 resins were produced.
Fillers can be roughly classified into two types:
- Extenders – used especially to reduce the cost. When added to the polymer matrix, no improvement or less improvement in property, but only the density of the material increases. The main aim of adding these fillers is to reduce the cost of the raw material. Example: calcium carbonate–filled PP.
