So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
218 Synthetic Polymers
Synthetic polymers are human-made polymers, often derived from petroleum oil.
Synthetic polymers can be classified into four main categories: thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, and synthetic fibers. The eight most common types of synthetic polymers, which are commonly found in households are:
- Low-density polyethylene (LDPE)
- High-density polyethylene (HDPE)
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
- Polystyrene (PS)
- Nylon, nylon 6, and nylon 6,6
- Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene)
- Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU)
