125 Phosphorus-Containing Polymers
Phosphorus-containing polymers refer to the polymers that contain phosphorus as a constituent in the polymer chain.
There are three major types of phosphorus-containing Polymers:
- Phosphorus present in side chains only
- Linear-chain polymers having phosphorus in the backbone chain
- Phosphorus present in cyclic structures within the main chain
Applications:
Phosphorous is one of the six most abundant elements in living organisms. DNA, for example, is one of the most important biopolymers based on a phosphorus main chain.
