Light-emitting polymers (LEPs) can convert electrical power into visible lights. An LEP is an electroluminescent conductive polymer that emits light when connected to an external voltage. They are used as a thin film for full-spectrum color displays.
The most common LEPs are poly(1,4-phenylene vinylene) (PPV), poly(1,4-phenylene) (PPP), polyfluorenes (PFOs), poly(thiophenes), and some nitrogen-containing polymers such as poly(2,5-pyridinevinylene) and polyquinoline.
Applications:
LEPs can be used in laptop screens, cellphones, TV screens, calculators, digital cameras, and in the future, almost everything.
