I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
204 Shellac
Shellac is a natural resin secreted by the female lac bug on trees in the forests of India, Thailand, and Myanmar. Shellac consists of polyesters of mainly aleuritic acid, shellolic acid, and a small amount of free aliphatic acids.
The earliest written evidence of shellac goes back 3,000 years, but shellac is known to have been used earlier. The original cultivation of shellac was for the dye that gives the resin its characteristic color. Shellac has remained an important export commodity for India and Western Europe throughout its history. The use of lac dye can be traced back to 250 AD when it was mentioned by a Roman writer, Claudius Aelianus.
