So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
87 Latex
Latex is a stable colloidal dispersion of polymer particles, which are usually a few hundred nanometers to several microns in diameter in water.
In nature latex is a white, viscous, “milky” sap found in the Hevea brasiliensis variety of rubber tree. It is a complex emulsion consisting of proteins, alkaloids, starches, sugars, oils, tannins, resins, and gums that coagulate on exposure to air. It is usually exuded after tissue injury (Figure 87.1). The word latex is also often used to refer to natural latex rubber, particularly non-vulcanized rubber.
