One big key to this system is that you control your flash (or flashes), including turning them on/off and changing the brightness, all from right where you’re standing—at your camera position. No walking over and changing the power on the back of the flash—you’re going to do it all from right on top of your camera (these controllers sit right in your camera’s hot shoe mount—they slide right in just like they were a flash themselves, but thankfully they’re much smaller).
