Now, take a test shot and look at the image on the back of your camera. If the flash is too bright, turn it down; if it’s not bright enough, turn it up. Don’t overthink it. It might take you a few test shots to dial in the right amount of flash (so it looks natural and doesn’t look too bright), but you’ll get it, and it won’t take you more than 2 minutes to nail it. Don’t change your camera settings—just the power of your flash. Again, don’t overthink it (but, if you want a refresher on setting your flash's power, refer back to page 18).
