I don’t generally bring a softbox into the bridal suite (or “make-ready” room), because it’s already a very busy, often-crowded place, and I want to blend into the situation, not become the focus of it. I just put a flash on top of my camera in the hot shoe, and I aim it straight upward, usually with the white bounce card extended (see page 39), or I add a diffusion dome and bounce the flash off the white ceiling (if I have a white ceiling).
