There’s a very tight relationship between the power setting on your flash and how long it takes for the flash to refresh, so it’s ready when you take the next shot (it won’t fire while it’s refreshing between flashes). In short, the lower the power setting on your flash, the faster it refreshes. This is awesome indoors, where we’re often at 1/4 power or lower—you can pretty much fire away without really having to wait too much on the refresh (not at high-speed continuous mode speed, but a flash every second or so), at least until the batteries start getting low, but they won’t get as low as fast at lower power. ...
