This is something that most flashes take care of automatically for you—it varies the width of the beam of the flash (or “zoom amount,” as it’s called by flash street gangs) to match the lens you’re using, so if you’re using a wide-angle lens, the flash covers a wide area (it would be weird if you took a wide-angle shot, but only the center of the image was lit, and the sides were all dark, right?).
