Sheets of CTO gel are pretty inexpensive, going for around $6.50 for a 20x24" sheet (like the Rosco Cinegel #3409 Filter - RoscoSun 1/4 CTO gels from B&H), and at that size, you can grab a pair of scissors and cut a whole bunch of pieces that are the size of your flash head from that one sheet. Technically, you should get about 60 gels cut to flash-head size from that one sheet, bringing it to around 10¢ a gel (however, if you’re as inaccurate with a pair of scissors as I am, then you’d only get about 14 gels on a good day).
