When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
STEP TWO: The Bridal Portraits
For the formal portrait of the bride (I try to shoot these well before the ceremony), I use a softbox for sure (like the Westcott Rapid Box 26" Octa or the Impact Quikbox), mounted on the end of a monopod and held by an assistant or friend, or on a light stand. If I’m shooting in a church, or in a hotel lobby, etc., I’m using my standard camera settings:
Shutter Speed: 1/125 of a second
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO: 100
Flash Power Setting: 1/4 power
Then, I take a test shot and see if I need to lower the power of the flash (which is usually the case in a dark church). If I want more of the existing light from the church ...
