So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Flash with a Reflector as Your Second Light
If you don’t have a second flash, the cheapest second flash you’ll ever get is actually a reflector. It looks like you have a second flash because it takes the light from your flash and bounces a bunch of it back toward your subject. There are a few popular places to use one, and the first is right at your subject’s chest level, so it sends some of the light from your flash bouncing back up to lessen the shadows under their eyes and chin, and it works really well. You can have them hold the reflector flat—horizontally—or for more impact, you can have them tilt it up at a 45° angle toward themselves. ...
