Flash meters simply measure the light coming from your flash, and tell you what to set your f-stop at so you have a proper exposure. Let’s do a quick Q&A: Q. Scott, do you own a light meter? A. Yes. In fact, I own two. Q. Do you use them? A. No, never. Q. Why not? A. Two reasons: (1) I have a monitor on the back of my camera that shows me how the lighting looks. I take a test shot.
