I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Do You Need a Flash Meter?
Flash meters simply measure the light coming from your flash, and tell you what to set your f-stop at so you have a proper exposure. Let’s do a quick Q&A: Q. Scott, do you own a light meter? A. Yes. In fact, I own two. Q. Do you use them? A. No, never. Q. Why not? A. Two reasons: (1) I have a monitor on the back of my camera that shows me how the lighting looks. I take a test shot. If the light looks too bright, I turn it down a bit. If it’s too dark, I turn it up. It usually takes just two or three test shots, and I get it looking like I want.
