Most flashes today come with what’s called a “foot” (well, that’s what the kids on Flash Street call it these days)—it’s a short, plastic, little stand you can slide your flash into. They’re not awesome, but they’re free. Perhaps the best thing about the little plastic foot is that on the bottom, most have a little thread you can screw on to the top of a light stand, so you have a way to mount your flash to a stand without having to buy a cold shoe mount or a tilt bracket.
