The secret to creating a solid-white background (besides aiming at something white, like a roll of white seamless paper) is to throw a ton of light at it. We’re talking full power (1/1) on the flash, with a diffusion cap on top of it to help spread the light (if you don’t have a diffusion cap, this is actually a legit reason to order one). Put your flash on a low light stand (like the one you see here), angled up toward the background.
