So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
STEP FOUR: The Group Formals
For the group formals at a big wedding (with a large wedding party), I switch to a really large softbox (like the Westcott Mega JS Apollo 50"). For a smaller wedding, with smaller group formals (maybe a maximum of eight or 10 people at a time), you can go with a Westcott 43" Apollo Orb, which is decent-sized, octa-shaped softbox. You’re going to mount either softbox on a light stand (bring a sandbag, so it doesn’t fall over), and you’re going to position if off to one side, but not at 45°—you want it a little closer to your camera position, and you want to put it back much farther than you normally would for a portrait, ...
